The United Liberation Front of Western South East Asia (UNLFW) és l'autor de l'atac d'avui. El front, integrat principalment per United Liberation Front of Assam, Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang i National Democratic Front of Bodoland. Quinze guerrillers han sorprès una columna de l'exèrcit i ferit dos militars a part dels dos que han matat. L'atac ha rebut el codi "Operació Barak" per part de l'ULFA. L'exèrcit ha llençat un operatiu matant dos insurgents que semblen ser milicians de Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive), Revolutionary Paople's Front, United National Liberation Front, KYKL i ULFA(Independent) han dut a terme l'acció conjunta segons un comunicat.
