238 simultaneous rallies by Basque political prisoners demand an end to the policy of deportation

Sare and Bake Bidea organized them all over the Basque Country. The most important human chain in Bayonne, Iparralde (French Basque Country). The year 2020 has been the year of the beginning of the thaw in prison policy in Spain, with more than a hundred approaches (almost 30 repatriations), the abolition of isolation or the granting of the first parolees.

Sare sets five tasks for 2021 based on the consensus reached: none of the removal, freedom for sick prisoners, progression of degrees, prison permits and Law 7/2003. The global motto was Justice is freedom. We want you at home (Justice is freedom. We want you at home).

The ideological plurality among the tens of thousands of people who took to the streets was reflected in the morning at the event at the Palau Euskalduna in Bilbao. No one could argue at this time, as was the case until a few years ago, that the issue of prisoners is "a problem of the abertzale left." Next to EH Bildu were represented EAJ / PNB (Basque Nationalist Party) and Elkarrekin, three of the four main forces of the south, while in the human chain of Bayonne (2,000 participants) only the extreme right was missing. Two former presidents, Carlos Garaikoetxea and Juan José Ibarretxe, joined as well as the President of Catalonia in Exile, the MEP Carles Puigdemont.
