Cabinda's FLEC calls for boycott of Angola general election, guarantees it will not give up

Following the clashes in Massabi and Inhuca, the Luanda government accused the Congolese government Brazzaville of complicity with the FLEC, which led the authorities of the two countries to a meeting on the 18th in Massabi of the FLEC General Staff. FAC, Estanislau Boma guarantees that the resistance will continue to fight for independence and also addresses the reunification of the guerrillas and the action of the civic movements in Cabinda, which, according to him, should boycott the general elections. Boma begins by accusing the Angolan army and attacking the guerrillas. "We are the attackers, the MPLA is the attacker," says Boma.

On the 18th, the governments of Angola and Congo Brazzaville met in Massabi following allegations that Brazzaville has backed the FLEC, a statement the guerrilla spokesman responded to saying that if so, the "MPLA would not be in Cabinda ". Asked about the opening of Alexandre Tati-led FLEC to a reunion with Emmanuel Nzita-led FLEC, Boma says it is total. "This unity is essential and given the imperatives of the moment it must be implemented here on the ground ... we ask others to join us in the patriotic defense of our people.

As for negotiations with the Angolan government, FLEC-FAC does not see an opening on the part of Luanda. "The Angolan government has no political will to negotiate, in military parlance, the rumble of boots is a sign of war, not peace, one thing is certain and the people of Cabinda will only negotiate with international guarantees, but they will never do so. FLEC-FAC, according to Estanislau Boma, has not been in contact with the various civic movements that have carried out intense activity in Cabinda, but, according to its spokesman, supports them and calls for a "boycott of the general election."

"To choose Angola in Cabinda is to choose oppression in our territory," concludes the FLEC-FAC Chief of Staff. Therefore the Cabinda-FAC Armed Forces Liberation Front (FLEC-FAC) is calling for a boycott of the general elections in Angola and guarantees that it will not give up, while defending the negotiations with Luanda, under international mediation.
