Kashmir leaders reject India’s dialogue offer

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference leaders, Syed Ali Geelani (AHPC-Geelani), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq (AHPC-Farooq) and Shabbir Ahmed Shah (AHPC-Shah) as well as the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front leader Muhammad Yasin Malik have rejected India’s conditional dialogue offer saying that New Delhi, by doing so, is trying to mislead the world community. Indian government on Tuesday said that it was ready to hold talks with pro-freedom leaders within the framework of Indian constitution.

Geelani reiterated that the solution of Kashmir only lies in the implementation of the relevant UN resolutions.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq maintained that Kashmir was an issue of people’s right to self-determination that needed to be settled through unconditional dialogue.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvin (AHPC-Geelani leader and Chairman of Anjuman-e- Sharie Shian, a shia movement) said that, although issues should be resolved through talks but the condition of holding dialogue within the framework of Indian Constitution is against the spirit of negotiations.

Finally, Muhammad Yasin Malik said that India was in no mood to settle the Kashmir dispute and wanted to strengthen its illegal hold over Kashmir through military might.
