The Mapuche Communities in Resistance of Malleco, we have come to issue the following public statement before our Mapuche nation, nationally and internationally:
Yesterday, Wednesday, June 10, a delegation made up of the lonco, machi, werkenes and members of the communities in resistance from Malleco, together with relatives of the Mapuche political prisoners and the trusted doctor, went to the Angol prison. of the strikers, after having been summoned by the Gendarmerie through the NHRI, to resolve and unlock the admission to prison of our trusted doctor and the machi, in order to evaluate and protect the health of the strikers.
However, Leonardo Barrientos, Regional Director of the Gendarmerie imposes on us conditions that are impossible to comply with, with a racist and irresponsible conception and completely unaware of Mapuche protocols, Leonardo Barrientos, points out that the entry of the doctor and the machi is resolved, but in exchange of this, it is forbidden for the lonco Víctor Queipul to enter. Thus violating the necessary minimum respect that the State and Gendarmerie must have towards our Mapuche people.
The Gendarmerie attempted an unacceptable trade, which is not aimed at solving or unlocking; on the contrary, it hinders and makes it difficult for us to know the condition in which the strikers find themselves. In a racist and irresponsible attitude, the condition imposed by Leonardo Barrientos violates and undermines our condition as a Mapuche and places strikers at such a degree of risk with their stubbornness and clumsiness, leaving them in isolation from their own, an issue that already adopts the character of torture. to our brothers on hunger strike.
Therefore, we regret to inform that the entrance of a doctor and machi is not yet possible to assess the condition of the strikers and so that they receive the proper medical attention they require in their condition, since we could not accept the racist and irresponsible conditions imposed by the Regional Director of Gendarmerie.
Through the NHRI, the strikers sent us the record of the weight loss, which we then handed over to public opinion.
