South Tyrolean Association calls to protest the 100 years of the fascists' march on Bozen: "100 years of injustice"

In an open letter to the members of the Austrian federal government, to the members of the Italian government, to the state governments in South, North and West Tirol, to the UN Secretary General and to the members of the EU Commission, the South Tyrolean Shooting Association (Südtiroler Schützenbund) points out existing historical injustice to South Tyrol. Imperialist falsifications of history as well as fascist place names, street and square names are completely out of place in Europe in the 21st century and should be democratically and openly eliminated in the interests of the local population.
“Italy is still pursuing a policy of nationalistic symbolism in South Tyrol, which includes monuments, shelters and military infrastructure and which is completely anachronistic and insensitive. To this day, every open debate with reference to "ethnic peace" is unilaterally crushed, which is questionable in terms of democratic politics," says Roland Seppi, regional commander of the South Tyrolean rifle club.

At the same time, the South Tyrolean Rifle Association refers to the commemoration event on October 1, 2022 in Bozen, at which "100 years of the fascists' march on Bozen" and "100 years of injustice" will be commemorated. 100 years ago the fascist hordes put the last German mayor of Bozen, Dr. Julius Perathoner and prepared the state coup and the Italianization of South Tyrol. The marksmen will trace the historical events and show parallels to the present and the future of South Tyrol in the form of a commemorative march and a top-class commemoration event on the town hall square. On this occasion, a manifesto for historical justice in South Tyrol will be presented.

“Reparation through truth can and will have a positive effect: It shows the aggressors in Eastern Europe that their fakes will not last. It fits into a broad international trend in democratic communities that want to definitively overcome the violence of the past. It creates a basis for peaceful coexistence. It is a rejection of authoritarianism and populism. It is a sign of democratic maturity,” concludes State Commander Roland Seppi.

Today's press conference of the South Tyrolean Rifle Association was attended by the state commander of the South Tyrolean Rifle Association, Roland Seppi, his deputy Christoph Schmid, Federal Managing Director Egon Zemmer and the Bolzano rifle captain Roland Spitaler.
