Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of People Liberation Army (PLA), struggling for restoration of sovereignty of Manipur Thursday 25th celebrated its 37th foundation day.
The outfit celebrated the day as “Independence Demand Day” with the
main function at its council headquarters, said a statement of the RPF
signed by its publicity secretary Roben Khuman. Besides at its council
headquarters, the day was celebrated at Central Bureau, divisional
bureaus and others including at the general headquarters of its armed
wing PLA. In his presidential address, RPF president Irengbam Chaoren
blamed that prevailing chaotic socio-political conditions and discord
and confrontation among different communities was the outcome of India’s
colonial rule.
In order to relief the people of Manipur from these situations,
there was the need for a change in the Manipur-India relationship. In
the meantime, Indian leaders frequently talked about peace in the region
without rectifying its view towards the people of the region. This has
created confusions among the masses, the statement alleged. Instead of
preaching for peace and socio-economic security among the people of
Manipur, GoI should end its colonial rule over Manipur and create
conducive atmosphere under which Manipur can once again exist as a
sovereign country, the president stated.
He said that India should not commit the blunder of perceiving the
liberation movement of Manipur as an internal issue which can be
resolved within their constitution. “Nonetheless, Manipur would not
take any hasty decision to fight a decisive war against India. If
necessary, Manipur will definitely fight any numbers of wars against
India and these wars would be the only inevitable components of major
conflicts which are bound to unfold in the region,” the statement said.
