Veteran Corsican Nationalist Shot Dead

Stefanu Leca, 48, was shot dead on October 19 in the village of San Nicolao. He had spent seven years in prison for militancy in the armed organization Front for the National Liberation of Corsica (FLNC) -Anonymous, perpetrator of 20 attacks between 2001 and 2002. He was currently a member of the former Patriotti political prisoner movement. The perpetrators of the attack are unknown, but the Maffia No collective, Vità Iè, has pointed out that in a few months six men have been killed in a similar way on the island. The pro-independence party Core in Fronte points to political motivations and states that "killing an honest nationalist today is no longer taboo." Leca had been involved in defending the coastal heart victim of real estate exploitation.
