Ambazonia forces ambush a Cameroon military base

The installation ceremony of the new military base in Bafut, Bamenda, Cameroon, was been attacked by Ambazonian fighters with gunshots on July 1st. The military officers had to flee for safety. Ambazonia Forces les by General Animal Pikin and General papi in a joint operation ambushed the military base in Besongabang. The Colonel plus four others were wounded and taken to Duala where the Colonel could have dies. On June the Ambazonia Defense Forces (ADF) carried out a sweeping raid on a French Cameroun Gendarmerie colonial post in the town of Esobi in Manyu County killing at least 9 Camerounian occupational forces and collecting a huge stock of ammunitions from the barracks.

A dissident faction of the Ambazonia movement, the Interim Government of Ambazonia/Tabe led by Julius Sisiku Ayuk Tabe said that the negotiations started with government representatives on July 2nd : "Nine of our leaders in detention were invited to meet with a team from the government of La Republique du Cameroun on initiating a ceasefire following the United Nation's request to bring an end to the war in Ambazonia," Ayuk Tabe, who is in jail serving a life sentence, said in a statement. The biggest factions  Interim Government of Ambazonia/AS-DC and Ambazonia Governing Council (political branch of the Ambazonia Defense Forces (ADF) keep the fight.

Cameroon's government and the leaders of English-speaking separatists have begun ceasefire talks, the rebels said Friday, an unprecedented step towards stemming near daily violence that has killed more than 3,000 people in under three years. The anglophone Northwest and Southwest regions have been gripped by conflict since the separatists declared their independence in October 2017 after decades of grievances at perceived discrimination by the francophone majority.
